PALEO: minerals as particle detectors
PALEO is a collaboration of physicists, geologists, and materials scientists developing methods to search for dark matter and neutrinos in ancient minerals. Minerals can record particle interactions over geological timescales, giving exposures far longer than conventional detectors.

Imperial College (senior member Christian Wittweg) and the University of Maryland (senior members Daniel Ang, Ronald Walsworth) have joined the collaboration.
